Good ending to 2015 fiscal year
Crete Carrier and Shaffer Trucking held the annual End-of-Year meeting, recognizing the accomplishments we have had over the past year and laying out our goals for fiscal 2016. In 2015, Crete Carrier and Shaffer Trucking had a lot of success to celebrate, starting with being awarded Carrier of the Year by multiple companies including, Wal-Mart, Kimberly-Clark, Lowe’s, and Tyson Premier. In addition, Crete was awarded the Wal-Mart dedicated fleet based in Mankato, MN and the Lowe’s dedicated fleet in Mt. Vernon, TX.
It is well known that within the trucking industry, turnover is a major concern for most companies. Crete and Shaffer have always taken pride in having one of the lowest turnover rates in the industry, and this year is no exception with a combined rate of 46 percent. We are proud that our drivers stay with us three times longer than our competitors.
Our recruiting department works extremely hard to hire some of the best drivers in the industry and this is reflected in our CSA scores. As a company, we achieved some of the lowest scores in every category in the industry. Our DOT Preventable Accident rate per million miles is the lowest rate it has been in the past five years, and we want to thank our drivers for working so hard every day to deliver our customer’s freight safely. Our first principle is “Safety, first and foremost” and being an industry leader when it comes to safety is an extremely proud accomplishment.
Every year, the sales and operations departments are challenged to find more freight to keep our drivers moving while also increasing the length of haul. Each additional load we accept combined with an increase length of haul means more money for our drivers. The 2015 fiscal year saw an increase to both length of haul and number of loads accepted.
As a result of these successes, we are proud to announce that this year, Crete Carrier and Shaffer Trucking will be distributing $10 million into our profit-sharing program! This is the largest contribution to the program since it’s inception. None of this would be possible without all of the hard work of our whole team.
The 2015 fiscal year was a great year for our company. We are looking forward to a successful 2016 year. There is always room for improvement, and this year we will continue to push to add additional freight and length of haul. Growth is the key to success. We are excited to continue challenging ourselves to achieve new goals.
