Crete Carrier driver advances to national championship

championship in the future for crete driver

Dave Kuscher, a professional truck driver for Crete Carrier of Lincoln, Nebraska, will advance to the National Truck Driving Championship in Orlando, Fla., August 9 – 13. Kuscher earned his spot by winning the Three-Axle Division at the Nebraska Truck Driving Championship June 12. Drivers compete in the state where their company headquarters are located.

Kuscher is a veteran of the safe trucking competition, having participated for more than 14 years in several divisions. He won his first championship pulling twin-trailers in the 1996 event and has placed second or third several times as well.

Kuscher has 32 years of professional driving experience and has never had an accident in his entire career. To qualify for the state championship, participants must maintain an accident-free record for a minimum of 12 months. In addition to the driving required in the competition, participants also complete a written exam covering federal truck regulations, take an oral exam given by the Nebraska State Patrol, and inspect a truck to identify safety defects.

Kuscher says his most rewarding experience as a driver is to travel the roads of the U.S. and meet new people. He’s been doing just that for 4.5 million safe miles.
