The Nebraska Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) awarded the Pro Patria Award to Crete Carrier Corporation on Saturday, April 20th at the Cornhusker Hotel in Lincoln, Nebraska. The awards ceremony was attended by Crete Carrier employees: Tim Aschoff, Chief Operating Officer; Jane Goertzen, Director of Human Resources; Andrew Prokop, Asset Manager; and Evan Winey, Asset Manager.
Pro Patria Award honorees are employers who show exceptional support for our national defense by adopting personnel policies that make it easier for employees to participate in the National Guard and Reserve. Pro Patria award recipients are forwarded to the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Reserve Affairs to pick the finalists to receive the Secretary of Defense Freedom Award, the highest civilian award that can be presented to companies.
The ESGR, which is a part of the Department of Defense, presents the Pro Patria Award annually by each ESGR State Committee to one small, one large and one public sector employer in their state or territory. Recipients of the award have demonstrated the greatest support to National Guard and Reserve employees through their leadership and practices. This is the highest-level award that may be bestowed by a state ESGR committee.
“This award reflects the commitment of our company to support our employees who serve our country through the National Guard and Reserves. We also are committed to hiring returning veterans after they complete their service and look for a career in the private sector,” said Tonn Ostergard, President and CEO of Crete Carrier Corporation.
