Crete Carrier uses PhoneScan technology to transmit paperwork

Crete Carrier and Shaffer Trucking are proud to announce that their drivers can now use smartphones to transmit paperwork. The new Crete Carrier PhoneScan system allows drivers to ‘scan’ documents on their Android or Apple device using the camera and submit them via email. It’s easy and it keeps drivers from standing in line at a truckstop.

“The traditional methods of scanning are still available (Fax, Mail, TruckStop, etc.), but with a large percentage of our driver population using smartphones, Crete Carrier Corporation thought it would be beneficial for its drivers to develop the Phone Scan system. It saves the driver time and it makes their life easier,” says Steve Sherman, Business Analyst at Crete Carrier Corporation.

The application which can be purchased online for a one time cost of $4.99 allows a driver to take pictures of several documents, and scan the documents using an Android or Apple device. The driver will then enter some additional tractor information and trip numbers. Once that is completed, the files are compiled into a PDF, reviewed by the driver, and then submitted on their phone via email.

“It’s exciting to use this new technology, and to be able to transmit paperwork with a smartphone. We’ve been testing this technology for a while, and we’re excited to see how many drivers will participate. Additionally, we are always looking for new ways to use technology to benefit our company processes now and in the future,” says Dean Troester, Chief Financial Office at Crete Carrier Corporation.
