Crete Carrier Corporation announced big changes for drivers with Crete Carrier, Shaffer Trucking and Hunt Transportation. Pay for drivers is set to go up on October 9, 2021. And the allowed speed on trucks will be increased starting September 27, 2021.

Drivers on the national random OTR fleet will see a $.05 per mile raise. The top 50 percent of national random drivers will now average $1,998.00 per week. Pay for regional drivers will be increased by $.02-$.05 per mile, depending on the fleet. Pay on dedicated fleets varies but most have increased recently or will increase in the future.

Previous surge pay and bonus increases have also been extended into next summer. Pay increases apply to company drivers (solo and team) and owner operators.

All together base pay for drivers has increased by 27 percent over the last year.

Crete Carrier Corporation President and Chief Operating Officer Tim Aschoff says the pay raise is a way to say thank you to their drivers.

“Our drivers continue to provide safe, reliable service to our customers, despite challenges facing our nation’s supply chain. We believe we have the best drivers in the country. They take their responsibility to deliver for America very seriously, and they’ve earned this raise.”

Aschoff says the customers of Crete Carrier, Shaffer Trucking and Hunt Transportation have more freight and miles than the companies can currently handle but is hopeful these changes will lead to more drivers coming aboard.

“We’re always looking for safe, experienced drivers who want to work for a strong, stable company. Our long-term relationships with customers have led to improvements in the driving jobs we have available, beyond great pay and benefits.”
