Crete, Shaffer, and Hunt drivers are paid based on practical miles. This means drivers are paid for 3-5 percent more total miles per year than companies that pay based on short route miles. Another added incentive is that those practical miles roll in faster now that we’ve recently raised our governed truck speed to 68 MPH on the cruise and 65 MPH on the pedal.
We also offer comprehensive and affordable health insurance, matching 401k and a profit-sharing plan that contributed $11 million in 2024 and more than $91.5 million to employee retirement accounts since 2018.

QUALIFICATIONS AND ONBOARDING
Crete Carrier Corporation strives to be the best trucking company in the nation. We strive to bring on experienced drivers with top safety records.
We require
- Valid Class A CDL
- Tractor-trailer experience
- No preventable accidents or CDL moving violations in the past year
- No DUI or DWI convictions in past 5 years
- No positive drug screens or events in past 5 years
- Minimum age of 22
- Hunt Transportation drivers must either possess a TWIC card or be eligible to obtain one – Hunt Transportation will cover 100% of the cost of all new and renewed TWICs
Orientation
- Locations: Lincoln, NE, Lenoir City, TN, Mechanicsburg, PA, North Salt Lake, UT, and Wilmer, TX
- Hunt Transportation orientation in Omaha, NE
- Owner operators paid to deadhead to orientation site
- Lodging and meals paid
- Hunt Transportation drivers will receive $670 for completion of orientation and securement training
- Classroom training and road test
- DOT physical and drug test (urinalysis and follicle testing)
- Company in-truck driving test
- Hunt Transportation drivers are required to pass a pre-work screen, which is a set of physical tests to determine a driver’s fitness to perform the necessary tasks expected of all Hunt drivers Click here to watch the pre-work screen video
PROFIT SHARING PROGRAM

Crete Carrier, Shaffer Trucking, and Hunt Transportation employees are eligible for company profit sharing after one year of service. $11 million in profit was shared with employees in 2024 alone, with more than $91.5 million contributed since 2018.

Discount Program
Our drivers enjoy year-round discounts and special offers from several national and local companies. The truck driving program includes everything from cellphones to restaurants.
Million Mile Program
Once a driver has exceeded one million career miles driven, they join the Million Mile Club. Decals are added to the driver’s truck to recognize this achievement.
Safe Driver Program
Earn awards for safe driving! We follow the ATA guidelines when honoring your commitment to safety. The criteria we follow are 12 months of employment, 100,000 miles/year, and no preventable accidents in the last 12 months. The awards that can be received include ATA pins, patches, cards, certificates, award letters, plaques, safe driving rings, dangles, and rings with diamond chips.
