BLIND SPOT AWARENESS

GET OUT OF BLIND SPOTS AS QUICKLY, LEGALLY, AND SAFELY AS POSSIBLE

Blind spots occur on each side of a tractor trailer, but the blind spot on the right side is larger. That makes it safer to pass an 18-wheeler on the left side.

WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT BLIND SPOTS

  • Pass on the left-hand side whenever possible.
  • If you can’t see a driver’s face in their mirror, they can’t see you.
  • The primary blind spot on a truck is the front-third area between the rear of the cab and front of the trailer – make every effort to not dwell in this area when passing.
