MOVING OVER
GET OVER AND GIVE THEM SPACE
Provide as much space as possible to vehicles parked on the side of the road. Signal and merge to the next lane if possible. If not, slow down as you pass by.
WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT MOVING OVER
- Truck drivers will signal a breakdown by turning on their flashers, and when necessary, setting out warning devices on the roadway.
- If possible, signal and safely merge to the next lane over to give extra space for the stopped vehicle, its driver, and any emergency responders to deal with the situation.
- In situations where it isn’t safe to move over a lane, slow down and be alert to the traffic and situation around you as you pass.
