SAFE FOLLOWING DISTANCE
STAY BACK. STAY SAFE.
Following too close to a vehicle is never a good idea. But tractor trailers are the biggest vehicles on the road. Give them extra space so if they have to stop, you can too.
WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT SAFE FOLLOWING DISTANCE
- Trucks are very heavy and take extra time to get up to speed and to stop and can only rely on side mirrors for a view behind them.
- The blind spot behind a semi extends nearly 200 feet from it’s rear.
- Truck drivers might have to brake to react to traffic conditions or other obstacles in front of them. Give yourself ample space to react, slow down, and stop if necessary.
