It was a pretty normal Sunday drive for Crete Carrier driver Shawn Weaver. He was eastbound on I-70 near Limon, Colorado. He had been following a truck for about 40 miles when he noticed it slowing. He considered passing but decided to follow.
“I truly feel God intervened and said no Shawn, he’s gonna need your help for the events to come,” said Shawn.
At exit 359 the truck ahead veered off the road to the right.
“I saw the sign out of my peripheral vision go flying across the highway in front of me and saw the truck almost roll on its side. I instantly knew I had to stop to render medical aid.”
Shawn safely pulled over to the shoulder and headed for the scene of the accident. He says the driver who had left the road had experienced a heart attack. Shawn contacted first responders and performed chest compressions on the driver until the ambulance arrived minutes later.
“Just another day in the life of truck driving! The good Lord placed me at the right place at the right time to save a driver’s life. Human life will always be more important than any load or delivery time. I just did what I would want another fellow trucker to do for me if I was placed in the same situation.”
